Vermoegensakademie – an Academy for Vermoegen

 

What is „Vermoegen“ ?

„Vermoegen“ is a German term derived from the verb „ich vermag“ which means: „I am able to“ or „I am capable of“. Vermoegen means potential whose realization has impact. Vermoegen enables. Vermoegen denotes the dynamic, fertile and productive aspect of the English word „power“. There is no exact linguistic equivalent to Vermoegen in other contemporary European languages. ( „Dynamis“ was the ancient Greek term for Vermoegen, as is „Shakti“ to this very day in Sanskrit. )

The use of the word Vermoegen is not restricted to one specific area of life. Depending upon context, Vermoegen can refer to wealth, health, assets, capital, fortune, property, value, worth, natural resources, human resources, a talent, a skill, a strong motivation ( e.g. to be of service ), a character trait ( e.g. stamina ), even a virtue ( e.g. integrity ). There are many German words that specify different kinds of Vermoegen, e.g. Orientierungsvermoegen ( the ability to find one’s way ), Auffassungsvermoegen ( ability to comprehend ), Urteilsvermoegen ( ability to judge properly ), Vorstellungsvermoegen ( imagination ) or Einfuehlungsvermoegen ( empathy ).

The range of the word Vermoegen includes three stages of development:

( 1 ) dormant potential that is yet to be discovered, ( 2 ) recognized and identified potential that needs to be ( 3 ) nurtured, cultivated and utilized in order to produce a new Vermoegen which in turn can be developed.

Although the word Vermoegen is used frequently in an economic, material context, it should be noted that any material form of Vermoegen ( e.g. farmland, machines, money ) is the materialization of some kind of mental ( or ultimately even spiritual ) Vermoegen.

 

What is the „Vermoegensakademie“ ?

The Vermoegensakademie was founded in 2006 by the entrepreneur Joerg Schallehn ( Schallehn Group, Bonn and Wiesbaden, Germany ), whose expertise lies in the effective management of all aspects of material Vermoegen, and Dr. Claudio Weiss ( Awareness Management ), a psychologist, philosopher and leadership trainer from Zurich, Switzerland, who has studied and developed human Vermoegen throughout his life.

The main focus of the Vermoegensakademie is on helping entrepreneurs to develop harmoniously their four crucial areas of Vermoegen: their personal Vermoegen ( health, talents, drives, relationships ), the Vermoegen of their enterprises ( people, infrastructure, strategy, culture ), the Vermoegen of their families ( cohesion, heirs, contracts, etc. ) and their private Vermoegen ( assets, real estate, art, expertise, etc. ). The Vermoegensakademie’s approach is interdisciplinary, cooperating with the best experts in their respective fields who share the values of the Vermoegensakademie and whose integrity is unquestionable.

The values of the Vermoegensakademie can be summarized by the term „eco-humane entrepreneurship“ – or by the triple P: Profit, People, Planet. Moderate profitability is considered a legitimate reward for adding value to clients as well as a necessity for the long term viability of any enterprise. On top of that, profit provides the fuel required to initiate social business. „People“ includes clients, staff, suppliers and the community. They should genuinely benefit from the enterprise and be treated with heartfelt respect at all times. Even competitors deserve respect and fair play in the game of the market. „Planet“ refers to the family of all human beings living on earth and those yet to be born, along with the biosphere that provides the home and nourishment for all of us.

The Vermoegensakademie cherishes the sanctity of all life and the dignity of every human being. Its efforts are dedicated to enliven any kind of Vermoegen ( human or natural, individual or collective, immaterial or material ) to enhance the quality of life everywhere, thereby promoting peace, progress and prosperity for every-one. The Vermoegensakademie supports entrepreneurs whose goals, activities and successes are guided by these principles, thus becoming lighthouses of „eco-humane entrepreneurship“.

This support includes:

  • providing insights and impulses through public „impulse events“ ( lectures, roundtables, one-day or multiple-day workshops ), publications and annual symposia on „Die Welt des Vermoegens“ ( The World of Vermoegen ),
  • orchestrating consulting, coaching and training sessions by outstanding experts,
  • bringing together entrepreneurs from different yet complementary industries with a promising potential for joint ventures to „Create New Business“ in terms of new eco-humane projects, products and companies.

 

In addition to augmenting the various Vermoegens of its clients and members, the Vermoegensakademie is pursuing an in-depth understanding of the nature of Vermoegen, its implications and applications. For this purpose, it supports research on Vermoegen and partakes in building an interdisciplinary and cross cultural network of creative and deep-thinking minds whose joint efforts will help us all grow in wisdom and have a strong, positive impact in our world.
